Jury Duty

I  had my first every jury duty experience at age 48.  I am convinced that they picked me for a criminal trial because I have the "Mommy gene"...after all who else is going to "listen to both sides of the story" and figure out "who started it"?
It was a criminal case involving a young man and the charges against him were severe. 6 counts of aggravated assault and attempted murder. The witness list was made up of police officers and detectives. Of course I kept looking for the defendant's mom in the courtroom.
Ultimately the case was dismissed before trial. I don't know the details but we did get a chance to talk to the defense attorney. We learned that the defendant had been in jail since 2008. I did get a chance to ask the attorney if the defendants family was allowed in the court room during jury selection. He said it was unusual due to the number of people in the courtroom on those days. He did say that she was there today. I go through life as a mom saying..."there but for the grace of god go I". I am thankful that my kids mistakes and wrong place wrong time have been relatively innocuous.  I truly entered into this trial believing that "someones son" was innocent until proven guilty.

Mother Hen Day 1

Working from home, didn't shower yet (6:45p) ...gotta get cleaned up for dinner with my husband for our 26th wedding anniversary. By the way, neither of my kids even bought us a card..and they can both drive and are very good at asking for money. I know the greeting card is obsolete but they could have texted us or bbm'd us or sent an e mail or e-card, right?

Mother Hen's First Blog

I spent most of today saying I am not everyone's mother..to my surprise everyone echoed the same sentiment...Yes You Are.
So as I dive into the world of social media, try to "educate my clients", help my friends and family I am apparently...Mother Hen.
